Ever get a great idea while taking a shower?
You'd think our best ideas would come in a business meeting or something - when we're super focused on a task at hand (or daydreaming at least).
In reality, our best ideas come when we're engaged in a monotonous, routine behavior - like showering. Assuming you aren't trying to shower while entertaining a toddler, or when you're out of hot water, we're in a relaxed state. We generally shower either early in the morning or late at night - a time when we're tired, too. It doesn't take much thought and suddenly there's space in our brain to "work" on something else. Feeling tired, relaxed and mindless is the perfect setting to develop a creative epiphany. Read this article to learn more about how and why great ideas happen in the shower.
A client of mine shared her recent "shower epiphany" with me the other day. She had been feeling depressed and irritable for months. In the shower of all places, she gained clarity on the situation, realizing her feelings stemmed from a lack of career satisfaction. This moment helped her muster up the courage to make a career change. She's now working with me to determine her best fit in the working world and make her great idea come to life.
Have you had a shower epiphany lately? Send me a message if I can help with your next great idea. :)
